On this day in 2001 the Rhinos paraded five of their new signings for the 2002 season – Wayne McDonald, Matt Adamson, Willie Poching, Adrian Vowles and Ben Walker.

ON THIS DAY in 2001 the Rhinos paraded five of their new signings for the 2002 Super League season. Wayne McDonald, Matt Adamson, Willie Poching, Adrian Vowles and Ben Walker were all new recruits for Leeds as the side looked to improve on that years fifth place finish.

Wayne McDonald joined the Rhinos from St Helens and played with the side until last year, he may best be remembered by Rhinos fans for scoring the Rhinos try of the year in 2003 when he ran eighty metres, beating four defenders against St Helens at Knowsley Road. Matt Adamson joined from Penrith Panthers and stayed with the club for two years before returning home to Australia after being part of the Rhinos successful 2004 squad.

Adrian Vowles joined Leeds from Castleford Tigers but left at the end of the season to join Wakefield Trinity Wildcats as Player Coach. Ben Walker was brought into the squad to replace the departing Iestyn Harris, in his one season at the club he made 27 starts with one substitute appearance scoring 12 tries and 119 goals totally 286 points, before leaving at the end of the season to rejoin Manly Sea Eagles.
Willie Poching, who joined from Wakefield is the only member of that group of players still at the Rhinos and in his time at the club has made 125 appearances and scored 43 tries.
