ON THIS DAY in 1978 Leeds bounced back from defeats against Wigan and Warrington to secure a convincing 26-9 win against Featherstone in the league.
It went onto be a significant season for the club, with a grandstand finish for the third year in succession, with a prestigious triumph in the Premiership Final.
It was a bumpy start to the campaign though with only four wins in ten games. This win against Featherstone was a needed boost, with two tries from David Smith,Bryan Adams and one each from Mick Harrison and Graham Joyce helping secure the win.
It was Joyce’s debut game and he went on to make 12 appearances for the club.
ON THIS DAY in 1994 Liam Sutcliffe was born. Sutcliffe came through the Rhinos Academy after signing for Hunslet Warriors. He made his debut in 2013 against St Helens and secured a regular place in the season.
He won his first piece of silverware with the club in 2014 when the team lifted the Challenge Cup and then in 2017 won his first Grand Final.
