On this Day – 16th November

ON THIS DAY in 1980 Leeds lost against Barrow in the league. Just a week earlier the Loiners had won the Yorkshire Cup against Hull KR but went down to their seventh league defeat of the season in this game. David Smith, Sean Miller and Willie Oulton all scored a try each and Oulton kicked two goals but it wasn’t enough and the Loiners lost 32-13.

ON THIS DAY in 1986 Leeds were at home to Warrington. So far Leeds had lost seven games over the season, but had got back to winning ways with a win over Hull and then followed that up with a victory over Wakefield coming into this game, but on this occasion the visitors were in fine form and they recorded a 54-16 win over the Loiners.

Ian Wilkinson (pictured), Gary Price and Andy Mason all scored tries for Leeds and Mark Conway kicked two goals, but it wasn’t enough to prevent another loss for the home side lost and Leeds then went onto have another bad run of results, losing away to Leigh and Wigan in the subsequent games.
