Rhinos use the ‘Power of Purple’ in 2021
Leeds Rhinos have revealed their new look away kit for 2021 which celebrates the return of the Rugby League World Cup to England in the biggest sporting event in the UK next year.
In 2021, for the first time, the men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions will be staged in a single, celebratory event, culminating in an epic finals weekend to crown the champions of each. RLWC2021 is set to be an unmissable event! Emerald Headingley Stadium will be at the heart of the competition with the Rhinos famous home hosting more games than any other single venue in the tournament.
Last week saw buildings across the country embrace ‘The Power of Purple’ to celebrate a year to go until the tournament and now the Rhinos away kit also adds the celebration of global Rugby League throughout 2021.
Commenting on the new look Elite Pro Sports CEO Lee Jenkinson revealed, “When we sat down with the Rhinos to talk about our first OXEN Leeds Rhinos away kit, first and foremost we wanted something bold and new. In 2020, the club were forced to change their kit on matchdays on two occasions and we can not allow that to happen again therefore we wanted something that was completely different. We were inspired by the work done by the Rugby League World Cup who are using ‘Power Purple’ as a colour that shows the global appeal of the sport, it is a colour that does not represent one nation but the game as a whole and we are proud to include that in our design for 2021 as the whole game builds up to a fantastic occasion at the end of the year.”
Commercial Director Rob Oates added, “This is a bold new look for the Rhinos and a new colour for us to use within our shirt design. The away shirt design is always an opportunity to do something new and different and OXEN have certainly achieved that with this great design.
“We would like to thank all our partners for their continued support of the club especially in these challenging times for everyone,” added Oates.
Inside the collar, as with all the Rhinos shirts in 2021, is the message Spirit of the Rhinos, which features above the tunnel at Emerald Headingley as the team walk onto the pitch for each home game.
The shirt features on the front the Leeds Building Society logo as principal club partners plus Berry’s and Global alongside the Oxen logo. Southerns and SMUK feature on the sleeves with NAPA, Quest Solutions being joined by Ortus Group for the first time on the back of the shirt.
The predominantly purple shorts and socks feature SMUK and OXEN with Leeds Building Society also on the shorts.
The adult shirts are sized XS to 6XL with Ladies shirts available in sizes 8-20, both priced £49.99. Junior shirts are £39.99 in sizes age 6 to 14 with toddler shirts, age 0 to 4, priced at £29.99. Replica shorts are available for adults in sizes XS to 3XL priced £25.99 and juniors in sizes 6 years to 14 priced £22.99.
The club shop at Emerald Headingley will be open from 10am until 4pm on Saturday 31st October. The shop will also be open from Wednesday to Saturday next week from 10am to 4pm when you can purchase the new look Leeds Rhinos home and away shirts as well as the full new range of leisurewear.
