Leeds Rhinos have two job opportunities to join their medical department as the Leeds Rhinos Academy Lead Physiotherapist and First Team Physiotherapist.

Job Title:​ Leeds Rhinos – First Team Physiotherapist

Department: ​Leeds Rhinos Medical Department

Location:​Leeds Rugby Academy (Training), Emerald Headingley Stadium (Home Fixtures) & Various locations for away fixtures

Contract: ​Full Time – 40 hours, initially on 1 year fixed term

Salary:​​Dependant on experience 

Reporting To: ​Head of Medical Services, Head Physiotherapist & Leeds Rhinos Head Coach

Position Overview:

Leeds Rhinos are looking to recruit a physiotherapist to work within our existing Medical Department to provide a 1st class medical care to the Leeds Rhinos first team. 

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Physiotherapy of Rehabilitation within a department that also consists of a Lead Academy Physiotherapist along with a Head of Medical Services and 1 part-time doctor. The ideal candidate should have good communication and interpersonal skills to manage full-time athletes in Rugby League.

You will be a qualified physiotherapist and have excellent clinical knowledge, experience and be able to demonstrate the ability to independently manage an elite sport caseload.

You will have access to Leeds Rhinos state of the art training facilities alongside support from their senior medical staff, and work alongside a strong multidisciplinary team. As part of Leeds Rhinos medical department, you will be able to attend and contribute to Leeds Rhinos in-service training programme. 

Essential Requirements• Chartered Physiotherapist with registration to the HCPC• Minimum of 4 years post graduate experience• Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles• A team player• Qualification in RFL IMMOFP or equivalent course

Desirable Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience in rugby, or elite full-time sports environment

• MSc or other equivalent post graduate qualification(s)

Job Responsibilities

•Create and develop a good working relationship with all staff and players.
• Liaise and work with the other Rhinos staff to ensure the Rugby Department is run in accordance with the values and philosophy of our DNA.
• In conjunction with the Head Physiotherapist, assess, review, and manage all injuries to ensure the most appropriate treatments, investigations, and referrals are implemented.
• In conjunction with the Head Physiotherapist, design and plan the management and rehabilitation of players alongside S&C staff so optimal progress is maintained.
• Appropriate record keeping in line with medico-legal requirements and those of regulatory bodies. 
• Take an active role in maintenance of standards and criteria set within the RFL audit.
• Alongside the Head Physiotherapist, discuss the playing squad at least once a week with the Head of Medical Services and ensure all players have a plan.
• To regularly discuss academy squad with Academy physiotherapists.
• To discuss weekly with club doctors so all problems are circulated and any difficult cases discussed.
• To keep squad lists on a daily basis so coaches, S&C and other medical staff know where each player is with regards to fitness and rehabilitation.
• Carry out all other reasonable duties and promotional activities as might be expected of the 1st Team Physiotherapist.
• Attend Staff development days/sessions as deemed appropriate.
• Be available to present to all Rugby staff when required.
• In conjunction with the Head of Medical Services/Head of Physiotherapy, conduct Player medicals for new/potential signings

Contract: ​Part -Time, 0.5 FTE – initially on a 1 year fixed term 

Salary:​​Dependant on experience 

Reporting To: ​Head of Medical Services, Head Physiotherapist & Pathway Performance Director 

Position Overview:

Leeds Rhinos are looking for a skilled & knowledgeable physiotherapist to provide physiotherapy and first aid services to Leeds Rhinos Academy. This role will involve providing afternoon / evening injury clinics where you will be required to assess, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate a wide range of injuries. Alongside this you will be required to provide pitch side first aid during afternoon / evening training sessions and fixtures. As a result, the position will involve weekend & evening working to meet the demands of the team. 

You will have access to Leeds Rhinos state of the art training facilities alongside support from their senior medical staff, and work alongside a strong multidisciplinary team. As part of Leeds Rhinos medical department, you will be able to attend and contribute to Leeds Rhinos in-service training programme. There may also be opportunities throughout the season to work alongside the senior and women’s team as required.

Essential Requirements
• Fully Qualified & Insured Physiotherapist
• Valid IMMOFP/PHICIS or prepared to complete course upon acceptance of position
• Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Be motivated and have an interest in working in a dynamic medical department
• Be comfortable working evenings & weekends to meet the demands of the academy
• Be able to work individually or as part of a team

Desirable Requirements

Previous experience working within sport

Experience of working within a professional team sport/sports environment

Job Responsibilities
• To provide excellent first aid cover for Academy fixtures home/away as required
• Assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries for Academy players as they present
• To complete necessary paperwork regarding assessments, treatments and screening of players
• To communicate effectively with Head of Medical Services, Head Physiotherapist and Pathway Performance Director regarding injuries, treatments and fitness to play.
• To work effectively communicate with Sports Scientist/Strength & Conditioning coaches in aiding the fitness and physical development of playing squad.
• Stay up to date with the latest research and medical findings within physiotherapy and sports medicine.

The salary for the role will be dependent on your skills, experience and current qualifications.
