Fans planning unique ways to support the Rhinos this Saturday

Supporters may be unable to attend Wembley this weekend, but many of our fans have told us about the creative ways they will be giving the team their support in the Coral Challenge Cup Final on Saturday – like creating a South Stand in their own home!

Cameron Pattison and his father David, who are both Rhinos season members in the South Stand, are preparing to bring a touch of Headingley to their home in East Ardsley in time for the family to watch the Rhinos in action this Saturday in the Coral Challenge Cup Final.

Cameron, who is a student at the University of Leeds, has already started work on crafting a South Stand roof, complete with Tetley’s advertising signage, and will be adding railings and fans too.

“I would certainly have been at Wembley if we had been allowed to go, but I will be joining my family in cheering the team on from home,” he said.  “I attend the games with my parents and we have friends who we regularly stand with and we are really missing a game night at Headingley.

“I came up with the idea to make our own South Stand in front of our TV so we could recreate a bit of the Emerald Headingley atmosphere.  I will be including a sign that says “Welcome to the South Stand” a place to ‘buy’ programmes from and of course the Golden Gamble.

“I like to join in the chants at the stadium, so I will be trying to get a few going at home on Saturday and hopefully will get the family to join in.  My dad will also be wearing a high vis jacket to be our very own steward!”

Although Cameron will be unable to join his fellow Southstanders, he has come up with a unique way that they can be included in his South Stand.

“I’ll be adding cut outs of fans who can’t watch with us, like my Grandad who is a huge fan, my sister and my girlfriend,” he said.  “I will also be including one of Rob Burrow, who will be in all Rhinos’ fans thoughts this Saturday.

“I am looking forward to the day and I hope the team are able to do the job and bring the trophy back to Leeds.”
