ON THIS DAY in 2001, Rob Burrow was named the club’s Young Player of the Year. Burrow had made his debut that year against Hull and made an instant impression. After impressing in the club’s Academy the former Featherstone Junior made 17 appearances and scored seven tries and 16 goals in his first campaign.
ON THIS DAY in 2004, Leeds booked their place at Old Trafford with a commanding 40-12 win against Wigan at Headingley which saw Marcus Bai score his third hat trick in his debut season and set up a mouthwatering all Yorkshire Grand Final.
Marcus Bai scored the 100th try of his career, as the Rhinos held off a brief fightback from Wigan to reach their first Grand Final since 1998.
ON THIS DAY in 2011, Leeds made Super League history by becoming the first team to win the trophy five times with a 32-16 win over St Helens at Old Trafford.
The wet conditions had a major impact on the opening stages with both teams keeping the ball tight and cautions not to stray too near the touchline for fear of being dragged out of play.
