ON THIS DAY in 1957 Gary Hemingway made his debut for Leeds against Salford. The winger, with lightning acceleration signed from Old Thornesians RU. He made a try scoring debut in the 25-25 draw and went on to notch up an incredible 82 tries in 87 appearances for the club.

ON THIS DAY in 2007 Leeds played Wigan in the Grand Final Eliminator at Headingley.

Leeds Rhinos booked their place back to Old Trafford after beating Wigan Warriors 36-6 at Headingley Carnegie.

The Rhinos returned to Headingley Carnegie looking to book their place at Old Trafford at the second time of asking. Wigan came across the Pennines for the third week running aiming to maintain the run which has seen them send Bradford and Hull out of the Play Offs.

Brent Webb and Rob Burrow crossed for a brace of tries and Ali Lauitiiti added one, while Kevin Sinfield was in fine form with seven goals and two drop goals.
