Next generation will be standing on the shoulders of giants against Dragons

Richard Agar is set to give the next generation of young Rhinos the chance to show what they can do on Wednesday night against Catalans Dragons but the young men will carry the history of the club with them into battle.

The side will wear the club’s 130 year celebration shirt that was launched earlier this year to mark the 130th anniversary of the first rugby game at Headingley back in 1890.  On 20th September 1890, the gates at Headingley Rugby Stadium opened for the first time as Leeds played Manningham in Rugby Union, five years before the great split in the oval ball code.

The shirt celebrates the players who have served the club since 1895, a list that will be added to after Wednesday’s game as the young stars earn their place in history.

The shirt is still available in very limited sizes as it proved particularly popular with supporters when it was released earlier this season. Click here to check out which sizes are still available, now for just £20.
