On this Day – 16th September
ON THIS DAY in 1999 current Rhinos player Callum McLelland was born. The young half back joined the Rhinos in 2018 on a three and half year contract having agreed an undisclosed fee with Scottish Rugby to bring the Pontefract-born youngster back home to the thirteen-man game.
A product of Castleford Academy, McLelland signed for Edinburgh Rugby in November 2017. He made his debut in 2019 against Workington in the Challenge Cup and has been a regular in the team this season.
ON THIS DAY in 2005 Leeds ended the regular season on a high with a 34-26 win over Wakefield.
Chev Walker opened the scoring after nine minutes and Chris McKenna, Willie Poching and Mark Calderwood added the rest to see the Rhinos go into the play-offs on the back of a win.
It was a memorable day for six of the clubs loyal servants, with Francis Cummins, Barrie McDermott, Mark Calderwood, Marcus Bai, Andrew Dunemann and Chris McKenna all making their final appearances at Headingley for the club.
