Changes for Rhinos squad ahead of Cup Quarter Final

Leeds Rhinos Head Coach Richard Agar has been forced to make a number of changes to his squad for this Friday’s Coral Challenge Cup Quarter Final clash with Hull KR at the Totally Wicked Stadium in St Helens, kick off 8.15pm.

Brad Dwyer and Alex Sutcliffe, who played prominent roles in last Friday’s win over Huddersfield Giants at the same venue, are both suspended this week. Whilst Bodene Thompson, Brett Ferres and James Harrison are all unavailable as they are Cup tied having played in the previous round in the Cup this season for Toronto Wolfpack and Featherstone Rovers respectively.

The Rhinos do welcome back Matt Prior, Rhyse Martin, Luke Briscoe, Tom Holroyd and Alex Mellor, who were part of the seven players who were unavailable last week whilst a player awaiting Covid testing results.

The game is a repeat of the 2015 Challenge Cup Final between the two sides at Wembley. Only Tom Briscoe and Adam Cuthbertson remain at the Rhinos from that game five years ago. Hull KR forward Mitch Garbutt also played for the Rhinos that day whilst Rhinos forward James Donaldson was in the Hull KR line up.

19-year-old Jarrod O’Connor and 21-year-old Sam Walters are drafted into the squad this week and could make their debuts for the club if selected.
