ON THIS DAY in 1976 former Rhino Ben Walker was born. The Australian began his career with Brisbane Broncos in 1995 and made his first appearance in the UK in 1995 with London Broncos.
He returned to Australia to represent Northern Eagles before joining the Rhinos for a season in 2001. He scored 286 points in 28 appearances for the club.
After his spell at Leeds, Walker finished his playing career with Manly-Warringah and South Sydney.
ON THIS DAY in 1998 Leeds earned a record win over Huddersfield Giants. Kevin Sinfield scored his first ever Rhinos try the day after his 18th birthday as Graham Murray’s side cruised to victory over Huddersfield.
ON THIS DAY in 2002 the Rhinos earned a 28-26 win over London Broncos in the final home game of the regular season.
Richard Mathers scored his first try for the club and Mark Calderwood and Ryan Sherdian scored one apiece. Kevin Sinfield grabbed a brace of tries and a goal. Rob Burrow added two more goals and both Francis Cummins and Danny McGuire landed drop goals to help seal the narrow win.
