More games in full for you to enjoy this week
Throughout the coronavirus lockdown, we will continue to give you two games in full each day for you to enjoy from our archives. Here’s what we have in store this week including some fantastic Super League action that happen this week in years gone by with a couple of derby clashes, a famous Cup game against amateur opposition and the Rhinos becoming World Champions for the first time.
Monday 29th June
Leeds v Featherstone 16th February 1986
Queenslander Tony Currie was in fine form for Leeds as they welcomed Featherstone Rovers to Headingley in February 1986. The two sides had met a month earlier at Post Office Road in the league with Peter Fox’s Leeds team gaining a narrow 20-18 win but on a seven game winning run, the home side were determined to produce a stronger performance at home.
Leeds Rhinos v Hull FC 2007
Leeds Rhinos kicked off their home campaign in the Championship winning 2007 season with the visit of Hull FC as Kylie Leuluai and Brent Webb made their home debuts for the hosts on a muddy night at Headingley.
Tuesday 30th June
Leeds Rhinos v Widnes Vikings 2005
Leeds welcomed Widnes at Headingley in the early stages of the 2005 season and produced a ruthless attacking display led by Mark Calderwood, who was in sensational form.
St Helens v Leeds 1st January 1996
In the final ever New Years Day fixture in the winter seasons, Leeds made the journey across to Knowsley Road to face St Helens and produced a thoroughly entertaining clash to kick start the new year, unfortunately for the visitors both teams would have contrasting fortunes for the rest of the calendar year.

Kells v Leeds 13th January 1988
Back in January 1988 Leeds took on Cumbrian amateur side in the Challenge Cup Preliminary Round, played at Whitehaven in a rare clash between an amateur team and a professional side in the Cup.
Leeds Rhinos v Bradford Bulls 2005
Leeds welcomed Bradford Bulls to Headingley to kick off July in 2005 as the two West Yorkshire rivals clashed in front of a sell out crowd of 21,000 fans.

Huddersfield Giants v Leeds Rhinos 2006
Leeds continued their impressive mid-season run up in 2006 as they travelled to Huddersfield to face the Giants.
Leeds Rhinos v Sheffield Eagles 1999
Graham Murray’s side were ten games unbeaten when they took on Sheffield Eagles at Headingley in July 1999.
Friday 3rd July
Salford v Leeds Rhinos 1997
Leeds travelled to the Willows in May 1997 to face Salford City Reds as Dean Bell’s side looked to build some momentum to their season.
Bradford Bulls v Leeds 17th December 1995
Leeds travelled to Odsal to face Bradford midway through the Centenary Season with Paul Cook making his debut for the Bulls against his former team in from the Sky Sports cameras.
Saturday 4th June
Leeds Rhinos v Catalans Dragons 2007
Leeds Rhinos took on Catalans Dragons at Headingley in April 2007 with Brent Webb leading the show for the home side against the team he would later join.
London Broncos v Leeds Rhinos 9th May 2003
In May 2003, Leeds travelled to Griffin Park in Brentford to face London Broncos in a high scoring clash in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

In April 2008, Leeds were looking to bounce back from defeat at the hands of Wigan with a home Super League clash against Warrington Wolves.

In front of a sell out crowd of 37,000 fans at Elland Road Super League Champions Leeds Rhinos took on NRL Premiers Canterbury Bulldogs with both teams looking to be crowned World Champions for the first time in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
