More games in full for you to enjoy this week

Throughout the coronavirus lockdown, we will continue to give you two games in full each day for you to enjoy from our archives. Here’s what we have in store this week including some fantastic Super League action that happen this week in years gone by with a classic play off game at Wigan and a Grand Final to enjoy this weekend.

Monday 15th June

Leeds v Oldham 1st January 1989

Leeds welcomed Oldham to Headingley on New Years Day 1989 with Phil Ford leading the way for the home side on his debut.

Leeds Rhinos v Bradford Bulls 2010

Lee Smith returned to Headingley after rejoining the club after a brief spell in Rugby Union with Wasps and he marked the occasion with big performance in the West Yorkshire derby.

Tuesday 16th June

Salford City Reds v Leeds Rhinos June 2006

The Rhinos put their mid-season resurgence to the test at the Willows with both teams battling for key positions the play offs. Salford were in outstanding form with former Rhinos Andrew Dunemann pulling the strings in a game that went down to the wire.

Hull FC v Leeds Rhinos 2006

Tony Smith’s Leeds Rhinos team travel to the KC Stadium to face Hull FC in April 2006 having only lost one of their opening eight games at the start of the season.

Wednesday 17th June

Huddersfield Giants v Leeds Rhinos 2007

Leeds travelled to Huddersfield to face a rejuvenated Giants side after Jon Sharp’s side had overcome a nightmare start to the season and were on their way to the play offs to produce a great contest here.

Leeds Rhinos v Warrington Wolves 1997

Leeds welcomed Warrington Wolves to Headingley in May 1997, with Dean Bell’s side undefeated in their previous four games.

Sheffield v Leeds 29th October 1989

Leeds made the trip to Saltergate, the home of Chesterfield FC, to face Sheffield Eagles in the Championship in October 1989

Halifax Blue Sox v Leeds Rhinos 2001

Daryl Powell was hoping to make it three wins in a row in his first month in charge of the Rhinos but Leeds faced a tricky trip to the New Shay to face Halifax Blue Sox.

Friday 19th June

Widnes v Leeds 7th January 1990

Leeds made the trip to Naughton Park in January 1990 with Australian Mark Laurie on the scoresheet after returning to the Loiners for a second spell in his career.

Wigan Warriors v Leeds Rhinos Play off 2010

Leeds Rhinos travelled to Wigan Warriors in the play offs in 2010 and produced an epic encounter between this great old foes.

Saturday 20th June

Leeds v Hull KR 3rd March 1991

Leeds welcomed Hull KR to Headingley as they looked to bounce back from a tough 5-0 exit at the hands of Bradford Northern the previous week in the Challenge Cup in front of a crowd of 8,041.

Harlequins RL v Leeds Rhinos 2009

Leeds made the trip to the capital to face Harlequins RL at the Stoop as Brian McDermott’s side were looking to back up their impressive win over the Rhinos at Headingley earlier in the season.

Leeds Rhinos v London Broncos February 2004

Marcus Bai announced his arrival at Leeds Rhinos with an impressive debut against London Broncos at Headingley as Tony Smith got his reign as Head Coach off to a winning start.

Leeds Rhinos v St Helens Super League Grand Final 2011

Leeds Rhinos were looking to rewrite the record books when they face old enemy St Helens at Old Trafford aiming to be the first ever team to win the Super League title from fifth position in Brian McDermott’s first year in charge at the club.
