Five Classic Super League Clashes vs London Broncos

Ahead of Sunday’s crucial clash against London Broncos in the Betfred Super League, we’ve taken a look back through the years at this fixture in years gone by.

1998 – London Broncos 13 Leeds Rhinos 14

Leeds claimed their first away win against the Broncos in 1998, thanks to a penalty goal from Iestyn Harris. After losing in the capital for the first two years of Super League, the Rhinos would edge through thanks to tries from centres Brad Godden and Richie Blackmore and three conversions from Harris.

2000 – London Broncos 6 Leeds Rhinos 38

The Rhinos claimed one of their biggest wins over London in 2000. Dean Lance’s side were ruthless with tries from Keith Senior, Francis Cummins, Lee Jackson, Adrian Morley and two from Ryan Sheridan to complete a 38-6 routing.

2009 – Harlequins 14 Leeds Rhinos 48

After losing their last two outings against the London club, Leeds recorded their tenth win of the 2009 season with a 48-14 win at Twickenham Stoop. Kevin Sinfield, Danny McGuire, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Scott Donald, Brent Webb, Danny Buderus, Lee Smith and Ryan Hall all scored for Leeds, who remained second in the league.

2012 – London Broncos 12 Leeds Rhinos 58

In 2012, Danny McGuire produced a masterclass at the Stoop to help Leeds to a 58-12 win over London. Two early tries from Shaun Lunt gave Leeds the edge early on before McGuire swung the game fully in favour of the visitors with four tries. Carl Ablett, Rob Burrow, Kylie Leuluai and Zak Haradker were also on the scoreboard to as Leeds won their third league game in a row.

2016 – London Broncos 28 Leeds Rhinos 42

After London’s relegation to the Championship in 2014, the two sides didn’t meet again until 2016 in the Qualifiers. A hat trick from Tom Briscoe, plus scores from Liam Sutcliffe, Kallum Watkins, James Segeyaro, Mitch Achurch and Jordan Lilley help Leeds win 42-28.
