Leeds Rhinos winger Tom Briscoe will make his 300thcareer appearance as the Rhinos take on London Broncos on Friday night and he is hoping to have more than just that prestigious milestone to celebrate come the final hooter.
Briscoe made 147 appearances for Hull FC, scoring 90 tries for the Airlie Birds between 2008 and 2013. He has added 134 appearances for the Rhinos, scoring his 69th try against his former club last Friday. In addition, he has 18 caps for England between 2009 and 2013.
Reflecting on reaching the landmark, the 28-year-old admitted it had come as a shock to him to be already making his 300th career appearance. He revealed, “It surprised me that I have reached that number and it makes me feel old now! I can still remember my debut, it doesn’t feel like two minutes ago. This is my eleventh season and a lot of time has passed by since then and plenty of games. I have been lucky that I have managed to avoid too many injuries. I have had a couple of big ones but on the whole I have been consistently able to play and that has been part of it.”
The winger admits Leeds are determined to give their home fans something to smile about against the Broncos. “This is only our second game at home this season and last time out we didn’t do ourselves justice. We need a big response and there would be no better time to do that than this Friday, in front of our own fans.”
