Leeds Rhinos Women’s pre season games confirmed
Leeds Rhinos Women will play two pre-season games in March ahead of the new Women’s Super League season kicking off in April.
The team returned to pre-season training this month and will get the chance to test themselves in two pre-season fixtures in March. The Rhinos will play York away on 3rd March, kick off 1pm and then they will host UK Armed Forces Rugby League on 24th March at their home ground, Sports Park Weetwood, kick off 1pm.
Leon Crick, Head of Women’s Rugby, said: “We have been back in pre-season for a few weeks now and training is going well. We are looking forward to the start of the season and building on the success of last year.
“We have retained a strong squad and have some good trialists with us. The pre-season games will be a good opportunity to see them in action and how the team are progressing in a game environment.
“York really improved over the course of the season and they will pose a good test for us. We played the UK Armed Forces last season in the Cup and that was a tough fixture for us, so we hope to get a lot from the games and it will be a good mark of where we are.
In their inaugural season the Women’s team, who are coached by Leeds Rhinos player Adam Cuthbertson, won the Challenge Cup and League Leaders shield and saw five of their players go on to represent England.
“We were delighted with the success last year and the backing the team got and we hope Rhinos fans will come along to support the team. We will once again be playing our home games at Sports Park Weetwood and hope to bring a game to Emerald Headingley again too.”
