They’ve Signed, Have You?

Have you signed up for your 2019 Season Membership yet? Konrad Hurrell, Trent Merrin & Tui Lolohea have all signed with the Rhinos for 2019, alongside young star Callum McLelland following his summer switch from Scotland Rugby Union and Luke Briscoe and Dom Crosby, who both impressed in 2018 and have now each earned a new three-year deal with Leeds.

Tongan international Tui Lolohea said the memory of playing in front of the Rhinos faithful back in 2015 with New Zealand was a big factor in his decision to sign for Leeds on a three-year contract. Rhinos fans who joined us for the Wetherby Whaler Festive Challenge on Boxing Day will already have had a taste of what to expect from the 23-year-old half back in 2019. Lolohea said he was blown away by the reception he received on Boxing Day, when he ran out for the first time as a Rhinos player at Emerald Headingley, and is looking forward to the different challenges the Super League competition presents.

Marquee signing Konrad Hurrell has also signed a three-year deal with the club and joins from NRL side Gold Coast Titans. The superstar centre is set to be a crowd favourite at Emerald Headingley in 2019 and has said part of the attraction of signing for Leeds came from Dave Furner’s ambitions for the club, adding that he hasn’t managed to win a Premiership ring in the NRL but feels like he is coming into his prime and plans to help Leeds get back up to challenging for honours this season.

Finally, Australian Test forward Trent Merrin signs for the Rhinos from NRL side Penrith Panthers. Merrin is a natural born leader and has racked up over 200 games in the NRL having previously spent 7 seasons with St George Illawarra Dragons before joining Penrith in 2016. The international class forward put pen to paper with Dave Furner’s side back in November, beating competition from a number of NRL clubs for his signature and becoming Leeds’ second marquee signing for 2019.
