Furner confirms starting line up for Wetherby Whaler Festive Challenge

New Leeds Rhinos signing Tui Lolohea

Leeds Rhinos Head Coach Dave Furner has confirmed his starting line for the Wetherby Whaler Festive Challenge against Wakefield Trinity at Emerald Headingley on Boxing Day, kick off 11.30am.

Furner has opted not to risk new signing Konrad Hurrell, who has a slight quad injury that he has been receiving treatment for during the last week. However, Tui Lolohea will make his first appearance in blue and amber whilst Furner will get a chance to see Alex Sutcliffe and Ash Handley in action in the centres with Kallum Watkins and Hurrell both missing out.

Commenting on the team news Furner said, “All our fans know what we are looking to achieve this season and it is right to be cautious with the injury to Konrad and Trent Merrin. Both players were keen to play but it is the right decision for the team long term. However, I am very excited to see this team play. It is a very strong side with a number of players looking to show that the work we have been doing in pre-season is coming through into a game situation. I am excited to coach the team for the first time and I hope we have a big crowd there to show their support for the boys.”
