Leeds Rhinos fans will get a first chance to see new signings Konrad Hurrell and Tui Lolohea in action on Boxing Day when Leeds take on Wakefield Trinity at Emerald Headingley Stadium, kick off 11.30am in the Wetherby Whaler Festive Challenge.

The Tongan internationals have been named in Dave Furner’s initial 21-man squad for Boxing Day with the final line up set to be announced on Sunday afternoon following the final team run. The Rhinos third new signing, Trent Merrin, is not included for Boxing Day after suffering a slight hip injury that Furner has opted not to aggravate by selecting the Australian Test forward.

Leeds are without skipper Kallum Watkins as he begins final preparations for his return to action following an ACL injury last season whilst prop Brad Singleton is suspended. Brett Ferres and Dom Crosby are also both not available as they recover from post-season operations.

England international Richie Myler, the Rhinos Player of the Year in 2018, will captain the side whilst all four of the Rhinos England Knights players who toured Papua New Guinea are also named in the squad in Liam Sutcliffe, Ash Handley, Mikolaj Oledzki and Jack Walker.

Former Hull KR and Bradford player James Donaldson has been included in the squad as he continues his trial period at the Rhinos.
