Leeds Rugby League legends covering seven decades of the club’s history will be part of a special morning of celebrations on Boxing Day as the club officially re-open the newly developed Tetley’s South Stand.

The Stand replaces the old terrace that was erected in the 1930s and includes 2,200 seats and a standing capacity of 5,500. The stand was developed by partners Caddick Construction with working beginning in August 2017 and has now been handed over to Leeds Rhinos following completion.

The South Stand development is part of the overall £45 million transformation of Emerald Headingley Stadium which will be completed this summer and make the complex once again a world class venue to elite sport.

Leeds Rugby League Hall of Fame members Keith McLellan and Garry Schofield OBE will be joined on the pitch by George Broughton, Alan Smith, Bill Ramsey, Graham Eccles, Roy Dickinson, Colin Maskill, Carl Gibson, Francis Cummins, Barrie McDermott, Keith Senior, Rob Burrow Jamie Peacock MBE and Kevin Sinfield MBE before the 11.30am kick off on 26thDecember. Leeds take on Wakefield Trinity in the annual Wetherby Whaler Festive Challenge.

Also joining the former stars on the Emerald Headingley pitch are Councillor Judith Blake from Leeds City Council and long-standing Leeds CF&A Board Member Peter Hirst. Hirst has given over 20 years service to Leeds Rhinos as a director of the club combined with his role at Caddick Construction making him the ideal candidate from both parties to be part of the ceremony.
