Rhinos give Donaldson training opportunity

Leeds Rhinos have given former Hull KR and Bradford forward James Donaldson the chance to train with the club whilst he is currently out of contract.

Originally from Cumbria, Donaldson spent four seasons with Rovers before leaving them at the end of last season. He made 73 Super League appearances for Bradford Bulls between 2009 and 2014 before moving to Hull KR in 2015. He made 42 Super League appearances for Rovers as well as helping them gain promotion from the Championship two years ago.

Commenting on the news, Director of Rugby Kevin Sinfield said, “We are pleased to welcome James into our group. He approached us about the possibility of training with us to keep himself in shape whilst he is out of contract. He is still only 27 and knows how to look after himself having played at the top level for other a decade. The arrangement works for both parties at this time. There is no contract in place but obviously Dave Furner will get a chance to have a look at him first hand in training.”
