Rivalry Reignited At Elland Road

On Friday 23rd March, Leeds Rhinos will face Castleford Tigers in a League match for the first time since the 2017 Grand Final.
The 2018 Betfred Super League match will take place at the world famous Elland Road, kick off 7.45pm, and promises to be a night to remember as the big local derby between Leeds and Castleford reignites for 2018.
In recent years, the rivalry between these two clubs has become huge. 2014 was the year in which the Rhinos ended their long wait to lift the Challenge Cup, and Kevin Sinfield finally got his hands on the famous old trophy following a memorable 23-10 win at Wembley over former Head Coach Daryl Powell and his Castleford team.
However, the three seasons that followed proved tricky for the Rhinos to claim a win over the Tigers. Aside from a tough win on Good Friday in April 2015 where Leeds ran in five tries to bag a 12-26 win at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle, Castleford have ran out winners in every Super League game between the two sides since, including both meetings in 2016 and all 4 meetings prior to the Grand Final in 2017.
The table-topping Tigers dominated Super League for most of 2017, but, hardened by their experience, the Rhinos came firing back at Old Trafford and claimed their record eighth Super League title, defeating the Tigers 24-6 in last year’s Grand Final.
Elland Road is a fitting venue for this clash as 2018 marks 30 years since the epic 1988 Yorkshire Cup Final between the two sides at Old Trafford when two tries each from Garry Schofield and Carl Gibson along with one from Paul Medley gave Mal Reilly’s team victory.
The stage is set at Elland Road for these two sides to face each other once again in 2018. You can be there to witness the action with match tickets available from just £10.
This game is included in 2018 Season Membership but Season Members will need to claim their ticket for the match at Elland Road as Membership cards will not work at the Elland Road turnstiles.
Match tickets for all available areas of the ground are priced £10 for juniors (16 & under), £13 for concessions (seniors 65 & over, students and under 21s) and £20 for adults.
Rhinos Supporter Members get a discount on their ticket and can take advantage of a ticket priced £5 for juniors, £10 for concessions and £15 for adults.
Tickets are available to buy online at tickets.therhinos.co.uk, over the phone on 0371 423 1315 or in person at the Club Shop at Emerald Headingley Stadium (open 9am-5pm Monday-Saturday).
