Last season Leeds Rhinos players Jordan Lilley and Ash Handley welcomed Rhinos fan Joe to Emerald Headingley Stadium for the big Betfred Super League semi-final game against Hull FC.

Joe is being supported by Victim Support, due to being a victim of a serious crime over a long period of time, which left him traumatised.  Victim Support Worker, Peter Doyle, who has been supporting Joe, soon realised that Joe was an avid Leeds Rhinos fan.  Peter felt that after everything Joe had been through it would be beneficial to Joe’s recovery if he could be a guest at a Leeds Rhinos game.

Peter contacted Madeleine Hegarty at Leeds Rhinos Foundation to see whether Joe could be a guest at a match.  Madeleine kindly arranged for two-tickets and greeted both Pete and Joe on the night of the game.  Both Joe and Peter were treated to great hospitality, including meeting some of the players.

Joe said afterwards: “I am over the moon and felt I was part of the team.”

Victim Support believe the evening will go a long way to aid Joe’s recovery and we hope to see him back at a future Rhinos game very soon.
