Leeds Rhinos Chief Executive Gary Hetherington has praised the contribution from the fans in helping the Rhinos to a 38-26 win over fellow title contenders, Hull FC at Headingley Carnegie last night.
“It was a crucial win for our team and puts us in a great position to host a play-off Semi Final at Headingley Carnegie Stadium on Friday 29th September.  It was always going to be a strange experience for our players and fans in front of an empty South Stand, but it was great to see and hear a collective effort from the whole ground to make up for the loss of our famous terrace.
“It certainly created a number of unique moments as a song started on the Western Terrace was finished by the Carnegie Stand! All our supporters, on all sides of the ground, did a great job to generate the atmosphere we’ve all come to expect during games.  The vocal support and singing gave our team an advantage throughout the game, which they needed against a very determined Hull FC.
“The South Stand will have disappeared when we entertain Salford on Friday 15th September and I’m hoping we can look forward to another big effort from our fans!”
Tickets are on sale for our final home game of the Super 8s against Salford Red Devils via tickets.therhinos.co.uk, over the phone on 0371 423 1315 or at the club shop.
