Robins get ready for Hall testimonial with derby win

Hull KR will arrive at Headingley Carnegie on Friday 20th January for Ryan Hall’s testimonial full of confidence after defeating city rivals Hull FC in the Clive Sullivan Trophy this weekend.

A full strength Rovers side won convincingly 40-16 against a young Airlie Birds outfit in Tim Sheens' first outing as Hull KR head coach.

The former Australia coach named a strong squad for the derby, whilst opposing coach Lee Radford opted for a less-experienced line-up, although Albert Kelly proved a point by scoring against his former side in his first appearance in black and white.

A number of Rovers’ debutants made an immediate impression with Adam Quinlan, Jamie Ellis, Danny Addy, Andrew Heffernan and George Milton all scoring tries in their first appearances for the Robins.

17-year-old Will Oakes scored a brace of tries for the Robins, with assistant coach Dave Hodgson, who announced his return from retirement earlier this week, also got on the scoresheet.

Along with Kelly’s first-half try, FC’s other scorers were Connor Bower and Mike Adlard.
