Burrow looking forward to start of the Tetley's Challenge Cup
Leeds Rhinos player Rob Burrow says the Tetley’s Challenge Cup still holds as much excitement for him as it did when he made his first appearance in the competition back in 2002.
His Rhinos side will face Castleford in the fourth round of the competition at Headingley Carnegie on Friday and he is hoping there will be a big turn out from both sets of fans for this local derby, “I always enjoy playing in the Cup, there is a great tradition and there is always a good atmosphere at the games. Each year as a team we have the same level of enthusiasm for the competition and our ambition is always to go on and win it.
“To begin this year’s campaign against our local rivals, Castleford, who have already beaten us this season, is a great way to get started, but we know it will be a tough test for us. I am confident it will be a great contest and I hope as many fans as possible come along to support their team.”
The Tigers ended a seven match losing run in Super League with victory against Widnes last week and Burrow expects this will be a massive boost for them coming into this game. He said, “Castleford always raise their game against us and they will be hoping to build on their win last week and use this as a springboard to lift their season. We know we will play Castleford at their best so we will need to be able to deal with that.”
