Headingley Carnegie to host its first wedding fayre

Ronnie the Rhino will be swapping his strip for a top hat as he welcomes bridal couples to Headingley Carnegie’s first ever wedding fayre.

Leeds Rhinos mascot Ronnie the Rhino will join wedding companies, showcasing everything from stationery to flowers and bridal gowns, at the Headingley Carnegie Stadium, St Michael’s Lane, Headingley, Leeds, on Sunday April 28 – with a prize for one lucky bride on the day.

Along with the chance to meet Ronnie, visitors to the free event will be able to view the internationally famous stadium’s stylish function rooms along with the club’s Pavilion, which is now licensed to hold wedding and civil ceremonies.

In addition, the events team from the Headingley Experience, which manages conferences and banqueting at the stadium – home to Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Carnegie rugby teams and the Yorkshire County Cricket Club – will be on hand to talk couples through the wide choice of wedding packages and menu options available.

During the afternoon, businesses from across the county will be displaying everything from wedding favours to cakes and flowers, as well as a wide variety of bridal accessories.

Handmade stationery and table decorations will be on display and companies providing stylish limousines and vintage cars will be on hand with advice and suggestions.

Exhibitors at the fair, which takes place between 11am and 3pm, will also offer ideas for wedding entertainment and photography and tips on make-up and bridal jewellery.

Jacqui Page, sales and marketing manager, said: “Whether you’re planning to host a small, intimate gathering of friends and family or a large-scale celebration featuring dancing and live entertainment, Headingley is the perfect venue.

“We very much hope as many people as possible will come along and see what we can offer.”
