McDermott praises travelling support

Leeds Rhinos Head Coach Brian McDermott has praised the club’s loyal band of supporters who made the Galpharm Stadium like a home from home for the Rhinos as Leeds progressed in the play offs with a 34-28 win.

McDermott also expressed his pride in his players for their determination to overcome a strong Huddersfield outfit. Speaking after the game McDermott said, “I thought our supporters were outstanding tonight. Our players were excellent and that contribution was matched by our fans. In the Play offs you are always going to have tough times, when you have to bend your back and make the hard tackles and having a couple of thousand fans at your back and cheering you on is massive.

“Huddersfield were desperate at the end and fighting for their lives. They took some chances and it paid off for them. I was worried towards the end, to say otherwise would be disrespectful to the Giants. They are a very talented team and can score some points.

“I’m not sure who we will play next week but we are confident in ourselves. We believe in one another and we will look to maintain our momentum next week,” added McDermott.
