McDermott says Rhinos will focus on hard work

Leeds Rhinos Head Coach Brian McDermott says his team will continue to focus on the hard work required to continue their recent run of good form rather than lose sight of the objectives they have set themselves.

McDermott said: "I thought we came up with some sensational patches of play and were brilliant on occasions.

"Hull were always going to come here and have a dig but we made mention of that and said that it was about what we did and about getting our attitude right.

"Leeds as a team have been known for playing hot down the years but we scored some tries tonight through tough options.

"People were willing to run hard and break tackles. And we did that."

Leeds beat Huddersfield 31-24 at the Galpharm Stadium on the final day of the regular season last weekend.

Yet McDermott is expecting a stern test from the Giants on Friday, saying: "They will have every reason to be strong again.

"We're not preparing or hoping for anything else, but once again we have continue with the same attitude we showed today.

"Our attitude has been very strong for some weeks now and what goes on in the inside of this place is more important than anything that goes outside of it.

"You can say we are in form but it's dangerous to acknowledge that.

"We're in form because of our attitude and our willingness to get our hands dirty. We know how motivated Huddersfield will be on Friday."

McDermott also reserved special praise for McGuire, who scored his 200th try in Leeds colours.

McDermott said: "He should be proud of that because if you break a record at Leeds then you know you're in good shape.

"He's been around the game for a while but he's still as hungry as ever."
