Walk under the stars for a star
John Holmes made over 600 appearances for Leeds in a career that spanned two decades.
On Saturday 24th September Karen Holmes will be taking part in the Sue Ryder Midnight Walk at Temple Newsam shortly before the anniversary of the death of her husband, Leeds Legend John Holmes.
Karen is walking on behalf of John and to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder Wheatfield’s Hospice community care team who helped her look after John at home and supported her in his late stages of cancer. Karen says she could not have managed without them and is doing this to thank them for their dedication.
This will be the second time Karen has taken part in the 10k sponsored walk; last year she raised over £1250 for the hospice which cares for people with end-of-life and long term conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, stroke and dementia. Karen had a great time last year and said it was such a great way to remember John and say thank you to the hospice for all they did for them.
