Rosenberg delighted to be back home
Legendary winger Wilf Rosenberg has said he is delighted to be back at Headingley Carnegie after returning for this week’s 50th anniversary celebrations of the 1961 Championship Final win.
The South African winger, who scored 73 tries in 81 appearances in Blue & Amber, between February 1959 and November 1961. He now lives in Israel but returned to his old stomping ground this week and said he was heartened by the reaction he has received.
He commented, "It has been great to see everyone and I have been made to feel so welcome. I have enjoyed catching up with my old team mates. Unfortunately I don't get to see much Rugby League these days but, in my opinion, this was the best ever team, we had everything and the guys made my job easy on the wing."
