Headingley Carnegie Insight
In this weeks edition of Headingley Carnegie Insight Head Coach Brian McClennan looks ahead to his side’s game against Warrington Wolves this Saturday at Headingley Carnegie, kick off 6.30pm.
HOW IS YOUR SQUAD SHAPING UP?
We have trained really well this week and the mood in the camp has been good. We are pleased to have Brent Webb back available and that will give us some more options in our back line. We have worked hard to correct the areas that let us down last week and we hope to correct them this week against Warrington.
Obviously we have lost Danny Buderus but Ryan Bailey and Ian Kirke are both nearing full fitness and will hopefully be back in action in the near future plus Paul McShane is recovering well from his shoulder operation.
WHO DO YOU SEE AS THE DANGERS IN THE WARRINGTON SIDE?
They have been playing well and had a big win last week against Salford. They have threats across the team and are led around well by Lee Briers, especially with his kicking game, and Michael Monaghan. A lot has been made of this game being Tony’s first game back at Headingley Carnegie and I am sure he will get a warm welcome from the staff and supporters here at the club, as he should do for the great things he did for this great club however once the players cross the line, he and his team are the opponent, and we will be doing everything possible to get another home win.
HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO BOUNCE BACK THIS WEEK?
The important thing is that we learn the lessons from last week and put them into practise this week. We do not have a game for a fortnight after Saturday and we want to go into that break with a good performance behind us. We are still striving for consistency in our game and that will be a big part of our game against Warrington.
