The Rhinos Gillette Academy side held on to beat Huddersfield on Tuesday night at Morley RUFC 24-20. The young Rhinos had led 12-8 at half time but were never able to pull clear of their opponents and were grateful to half back Jack Carvill who scored two tries and two goals for a personal haul of 12 points. The other try scorers were full back Tom Bush and replacement Clayton Scott. Ryan Gaunt also added two goals. The two teams will meet again this Saturday at Huddersfield YMCA in the Rhinos U18’s final game of the regular season, kick off 11am. After a tough start to the season, the Rhinos are currently in fifth place in the table, one point ahead of Huddersfield after last night’s victory. Wakefield face Hull KR at home in their final game of the regular season and a victory for the Wildcats would see them leapfrog the loser of Saturday’s game in Huddersfield into sixth place, so everything is still to play for.
