In this week’s edition of Headingley Carnegie Insight Head Coach Brian McClennan looks ahead to the Rhinos game against Castleford Tigers this Friday at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, kick off 8pm Has the result against Bradford given the team confidence this week? I thought our performance was much better last week and the second half was a quality game, in which both Bradford and Leeds played well, so there were a lot of positives to be taken from the game. We controlled the game better in the second half, which is something that is easy to do when you are playing a team below their best, but much harder when the opposition are in good form and I thought Bradford played some really good rugby in the match against us. The win has given us confidence and we have gone well in training this week. I think everybody is appreciating that we are now heading in the right direction and now we’ve got to build on that win against Bradford as we head into our final games of the season. How do you rate Castleford? Castleford will go into Friday’s game on the back of a big derby win, after they defeated Wakefield in their last game, which was a great result for them. We have played Castleford twice this year and they defeated us in that first game, so we know what they can do, but the main thing for us this week in training has been not to concentrate on Castleford too much and stay focussed on our own game to ensure we play the best we can. What we are thinking about is trying to raise our performance so that we are at a level that’s going to give us confidence going into the play-offs. What are your thoughts of the home support as we come to the end of home campaign? I have been really impressed by the fans during my first season at the club. Our supporters are the best ever and their support for their club is unparalleled. The support of the fans is so important and really does lift the team, they are like the 14th man for us. The team really enjoy playing in front of our fans I hope they can get behind us for our march to the Grand Final.
