PEACOCK AGREES NEW RHINOS DEAL

Great Britain captain Jamie Peacock has agreed a new three year contract with engage Super League Champions Leeds Rhinos.

Great Britain captain Jamie Peacock has agreed a new three year contract with engage Super League Champions Leeds Rhinos. Peacock, 30, has been named International Forward of the Year for the past two seasons and had two years remaining on his previous deal. However, he has agreed a new three year contract that will keep him at Headingley Carnegie until at least the end of the 2010 season. The news comes as a timely boost for the Champions as they prepare to begin the defence of their title this Saturday against Hull KR at Headingley Carnegie, kick off 6pm. Over 19,000 tickets have already been sold for the all ticket clash and fans have until 3pm on Saturday to purchase their tickets or until tickets last. Peacock commented, "I am over the moon to have agreed the new deal. I am really settled with life at Leeds. Last year was everything I hoped it would be as a Leeds player. Winning a Super League trophy was fantastic and with the players and coach we have at the moment I want to be part of that future. What is particularly exciting is looking around our dressing room and seeing the current British talent we have and the emerging young players coming through. "It is a place I want to be, for me it is not just about playing for Leeds, it is about winning for Leeds and I want be part of that future. We have been speaking over the past couple of months about a new deal and it is great to have finally come to an agreement before the start of the season. The contract will see me to a point in my career when I can make a decision about how I will finish my career and that is gives me stability going forward so I can just concentrate on my game," added Peacock. Head Coach Brian McClennan added, "This is great news for the club and we are all delighted with the announcement. Jamie is one of our leaders, on and off the pitch, and he is obviously a world class player. There is a fantastic atmosphere within the squad that everyone wants to be a part of and we are all looking forward to the start of the season."
