The Rhinos disappointment at losing 30-22 to Catalans Dragons was compounded with news that Danny McGuire has suffered a fractured knuckle. McGuire was forced off in the first half which meant that the Rhinos had to shuffle pack with Kevin Sinfield going to stand off having started the game at hooker. Speaking after the game Tony Smith said, "The better team won on the night, we were forced into errors by the Catalans side and they made it count. The atmosphere was like a 14th man for the side and they deserved the win. We created some good tries in the first half but losing Danny McGuire and Ryan Bailey disrupted us. "Danny will have a scan on Monday when we get back to Leeds to ascertain the extent of the injury but it looks like a fracture. Ryan Bailey suffered a sternum injury and we will have a look at him tomorrow to see how bad the injury is. We are not making any excuses, we were beat by the better side on the night. "They could easily have gone into this game on the back of two wins so we knew they would be a tough test and they proved exactly that," added Smith. Catalans coach Mick Potter said he was proud his side after their historic win. He commented, "This was a well earned victory and we worked very hard in the second half. I’m very proud of our players but we still have got work to do however it was a big improvement on last week."
