Headingley Carnegie Rewards have announced the first free seminar available to members is an illustrated history of rugby in Leeds. Rhinos and Tykes season ticket holders get free and automatic membership and can attend the seminar for free. The seminar will take place next Thursday 1st March in the Lewis Jones Suite in the Carnegie Stand at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. It will address such questions as how did rugby start in Leeds, who started it and why? These and many other questions will be discussed in this hour-long journey through the origins and early years of rugby in Leeds. Using archive film, illustrations from the time and contemporary photographs, Professor Tony Collins will take you back to a time when the captain of Leeds played rugby wearing glasses, England rugby union internationals were played on Cardigan Fields, and the leading rugby league club in the city was Leeds Parish Church. Whether you love league, union or just the city of Leeds, join us on a voyage of rugby discovery!
