100 DAYS UNTIL OPENING OF NEW CARNEGIE STAND

Leeds Rugby Limited have today announced that the new Carnegie Stand will be opened for the first time in 100 days time on Friday 1st September.

Leeds Rugby Limited have today announced that the new Carnegie Stand will be opened for the first time in 100 days time on Friday 1st September for Leeds Rhinos game against Warrington Wolves. There was a possibility that the new stand, built in partnership with Leeds Metropolitan University, would not be available until after the 2006 season however fans will get the chance to use the stand for the last two games of the current campaign. The opening of the Carnegie Stand is the most significant development at Headingley Carnegie Stadium in over 70 years and the club expect demand for the opening night to be high. Those with tickets in the Carnegie Stand will enjoy comfortable and modern facilities in line with some of the best stadia in the country. The stand will incorporate two tiers of viewing areas with terracing for 2,600 on the bottom tier and seating for 1,800 on the top tier, a total capacity of 4,400. The seating areas will be divided into wing and centre section seats and the stand will also triple the number of disabled spaces currently available at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. The project which began in October 2005 and has cost £7 million has been financed without any grant funding and will incorporate a new teaching campus for Leeds Metropolitan University. The ground floor of the Carnegie Stand will be home to a student centred Helpzone and a Carnegie Cafe for students, visitors and guests. The ground floor will also house a conference suite for professional training development. The first floor will contain seminar and meeting rooms and on the second floor Leeds Met are developing state of the art coaching facilities which will allow players and students to use modern technology to analyse team play. The top floor will be a conference and education centre for up to 250 people and will offer wide screen projection. Commenting on the announcement Chief Executive Gary Hetherington said, "The opening night on 1st September will be a historic occasion for Headingley Carnegie Stadium. This is the first redevelopment work to have taken place on the rugby stadium in over 70 years and it will be a landmark event for ourselves and our partners at Leeds Metropolitan University. It is a tremendous achievement that, given recent high profile cases, the Carnegie Stand will not only be ready on schedule but will also be on budget." Season ticket holders are entitled to transfer their season ticket for both the Warrington game and the match with Catalans Dragons a fortnight later by paying the upgrade fee plus an administration fee of £3. The upgrade fee is the difference in price from the season ticket they currently hold to the price of match tickets for both matches. Juniors upgrading to these areas will only need to pay the £3 administration fee. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 30th May at 9am from the Headingley Carnegie ticket office. Season ticket holders have until 5pm on Wednesday 14th June to take advantage of the upgrade offer. Members will receive priority to purchase tickets in the new Carnegie stand until 5pm on Wednesday 14th June. Priority is offered on a one ticket per member basis. It costs £10 to become a member. Full price tickets for both games will go on sale to the general public at 9am on Thursday 15th June on a first come first serve basis. Season Ticket Upgrade Prices for both games
