On this day in 1932 Leeds took on Wakefield in the replay of the Yorkshire Cup and 32 years later the teams once again met in the final of this competition and in 2002 Chris Feather joined the Rhinos from Wakefield.

On this day in 1932 Leeds took on Wakefield in the replay of the Yorkshire Cup, after drawing with the side just four days earlier. The stalemate had been the first ever in the competition’s twenty seven year history and amazingly after this game the teams once again finished on even terms after full time and thus setting of a second replay. Leeds made just two changes coming into the game, Sep Aspinall returned from suspension and Chimpy Busch was back after being ruled out of the first game due to injury. The crowd for the replay was 10,300 and the game once again took part at Crown Flatt, Dewsbury. The first half remained pointless right up until the 40th minute when Pollard kicked a penalty and the score remained a 2-0 to Wakefield until Leeds put in a sustained period of pressure in the last ten minutes, but with four minutes left and Trinity still in font it looked like the Cup was destined for Wakefield, however in the last dramatic moments Dicky Ralph collected the ball for Leeds and kicked a vital drop goal to equal the game once more. On this day in 1964 Leeds were once again in the Yorkshire Cup Final and Wakefield once more provided the opposition. Leeds had beaten Hunslet, Keighley and Halifax to get to the Final but had lost to Castleford in the league just seven days before and unfortunately this losing form was to continue into this Final. Wakefield proved to be too strong and they played some excellent rugby to claim a 18-2 win. Robin Dewhurst scored Leeds’ only points in the game with a goal. On this day in 2002 Chris Feather joined the Rhinos from Wakefield. Chris had come through the ranks at Wakefield, making his debut in the 2001 season when he made five substitute appearances. In 2002 he became a first team regular, playing 31 games which included an appearance in the Challenge Cup Quarter Final at Headingley when he scored against the Rhinos. When Chris joined Leeds it was a case of second time lucky as he had already played for Leeds at Alliance level four years earlier. In his first season at the Rhinos Chris was a first team regular, however he did not start a single game, instead making his impact off the bench on 28 occasions. His first start did not come till 2004, but he grabbed the opportunity to impress, scoring his first try against Widnes. For the last two seasons Chris has had periods on loan at Wakefield, but returns to the Rhinos squad this year for the 2006 season.
