WARD RULED OUT FOR WILLOWS CLASH
England A prop Danny Ward has been ruled out of Monday’s trip to Salford with a knee injury picked up against Bradford.
England A prop Danny Ward has been ruled out of Monday's trip to Salford with a knee injury picked up against Bradford. Tony Smith has named a twenty man squad for the game with Wayne McDonald, Liam Botham, Mark Calderwood and Dwayne Barker added to the other 16 from Thursday's win over Bradford. Jamie Jones-Buchanan (foot), Matt Adamson (shoulder) and Gary Connolly (ankle) are all ruled out through injury. Tony Smith has confirmed that Liam Botham will play some part in Monday's game which will be his first appearance since Tony Smith became Head Coach at the Rhinos. Botham joined the Rhinos last July from rugby union's Newcastle Falcons and made one appearance in last season's Super League on the wing at Castleford Tigers. However, Botham has played the majority of his rugby in the Senior Academy in the second row. He played for the Rhinos sister club Leeds Tykes on the wing during the winter and reverted back to the Rhinos in February. He is a former England A rugby union player and previously played at West Hartlepool and Cardiff before joining Newcastle. Liam is also the goal kicker for the Senior Academy.
