MATHERS, CUMMINS AND MCKENNA RETURN FOR RHINOS

Head Coach Tony Smith has recalled full back Richard Mathers, winger Francis Cummins and centre Chris McKenna for Sunday’s game.

Head Coach Tony Smith has recalled full back Richard Mathers, winger Francis Cummins and centre Chris McKenna for Sunday’s game. Mathers comes in for Gary Connolly, whilst Francis Cummins replaces Marcus Bai on the wing. Australian international Chris McKenna makes his first appearance of the season after recovering from a dead leg injury suffered in pre season to replace Keith Senior in the centres. Wayne McDonald and Willie Poching have forced their way into the starting line up after impressive displays off the bench last Sunday, with Ryan Bailey and Matt Adamson both ruled out through injuries. Chris Feather, who impressed in midweek for the Senior Academy at Warrington, earns a recall to the bench alongside Jamie Jones-Buchanan. The team in full is: 21. Richard Mathers 18. Andrew Dunemann Barrie McDermott and Francis Cummins are the only survivors from the last Leeds team to play Workington at Derwent Park in Super League I in 1996. Cummins is also the only survivor from when the two teams last met in the Challenge Cup in the 1994-95 season. Cummins scored that day as Leeds progressed through the Quarter Final tie at Headingley, 50-16. Leeds reached the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley that season also. Tony Smith made nine appearances for Workington in the 1996 season before retiring at the end of that season.
