Lucy Murray came through the Rhinos Women's Academy to make her debut on the opening day of the 2021 season against York before earning a regular place in the squad and being one of the team's most consistent performers. In her first season, the back-rower made ten appearances, most of which came from the bench, plus she also scored her first try in a 74-6 win over Wakefield Trinity. She also came off the bench in the Grand Final defeat to St Helens.
Murray's 2022 season saw her appear in Leeds' final three games of the season but she still played a role in helping the team lift the Grand Final trophy against York with a 12-4 win. Her 2023 season saw the forward play ten times, including both the Challenge Cup Final and Grand Final, plus she crossed for important tries in the 12-12 draw away against York and the comeback Super League semi-final win over St Helens.
She previously attended Corpus Christi where she was part of their successful team. She had started out as a dancer but after taking part in rugby as part of the curriculum she was asked by her coach James Endersby who ran the after-school sessions to try out for the team. She also played for Hunslet Warriors and South Leeds Spartans before being invited by current Leeds Rhinos Women Head Coach Lois Forsell to join the Women’s U19 Academy set-up.
She currently works as a contract support administrator for OCU Group and alongside rugby also enjoys horse riding and netball.
