Leeds Rhinos 40 Bradford Bulls 12

20th August 2004

By Leeds Rhinos

The Rhinos moved a massive step closer to claiming the League Leaders title with a 40-12 victory over Bradford in front of another sell out Headingley.

Leeds opened the scoring after just 50 seconds, with Danny McGuire rounding Stuart Reardon after wonderful offloads from Wayne McDonald and Willie Poching.

Chris McKenna's last-ditch tackle put Lesley Vainikolo into touch at the corner and the Aussie was rewarded with a try of his own at the other end, supplying the final touch following Matt Adamson's charge downfield.

Ali Lauitiiti then scored a third Leeds try after Keith Senior took Kevin Sinfield's bomb and kept the ball alive, and three Sinfield goals gave Leeds an 18-0 lead after just 15 minutes.

Leeds added another double-strike before half time to move out to 26-0. McKenna created the first by bursting past Reardon and Harris from a scrum to send McGuire on a 55-yard race to the line.

McKenna then added his own second try in style, stepping neatly past Hape before charging 20 yards to the line.
Bai then surged through two men before powering 60 yards to touch down before the Bulls eventually got on the scoresheet through Swann.

Sinfield kicked a penalty before adding the conversion to Jamie Jones-Buchanan's well taken try.  Harris then scored on his return to Headingley but it was to be an unhappy night for the Welshman.
