One of the most exciting talents the club has produced, winger Mark Calderwood's performance in the 2004 Grand Final season was instrumental in the team’s success.

Born in London, he joined Leeds from local side Milford Marlins, scoring 40 tries in the club's academy. He made his first team debut in the capital in the first round of the 2001 season under Dean Lance, scoring 12 tries and playing in every game. At the end of the year, he was selected for John Kear's England Under-21s team that toured South Africa (Calderwood scoring six tries across two matches)

With Daryl Powell taking the reigns for 2002, Calderwood established himself as one of the best scorers in the competition, racking up 23 tries in 2002 and then 25 tries a year later. He continued to impress internationally, playing for England 'A' against New Zealand in a 34-12 defeat. He also toured Fiji and Tonga with his country, playing in two out of the three matches.

In Leeds' 2004 Championship winning season, he was a key weapon for Tony Smith, proving effective alongside Chev Walker on the left edge. He scored 12  tries that season and notably helped the Rhinos lift the Super League trophy at Old Trafford.

He added more honours in 2005, scoring a try at Elland Road to help Leeds lift the World Club Challenge for the first time against Canterbury Bulldogs. In the 35 games he played, Calderwood scored 35 tries, 29 of which came in the Super League. He announced in June that he was leaving the club, having scored 106 tries in 144 appearances, going on to sign for Wigan Warriors in 2006 and also had spells at Harlequins RL and Hull FC.
