Signed for the Rhinos scholarship in 2017, hooker Oli Burton joins his brother Joe in being promoted to the Rhinos Academy for 2019.
Through playing rugby the twins follow in the footsteps their dad, Danny Burton, who played for Bradford and Halifax in the 1990s and sister Abi has represented England Women in rugby union sevens. Danny also coached the twins at Kippax, where they won a total of nine trophies.
He is a former pupil at Rothwell St Mary’s, St Wilfrids and is currently studying a Leeds City College of Building. Before joining Kippax he played for Stanley Rangers and in 2018 he won international recognition with England Rugby League.
Imagine Dragons, Arctic Monkeys and Fall Out Boy are three of his favourite bands. The 2013 Arctic Monkeys hit “R U Mine” is a favourite matchday song and he likes shepherd’s pie for a meal. He would also like to try American Football if he wasn’t playing Rugby League.
