700 young players attend first Community Club Engagement Day

On Saturday, AMT Headingley Stadium opened its doors to over 1,400 young players and parents at the first-ever Community Club Engagement Day.

41 Community Clubs were represented on the day, with the junior players and their families invited to meet the full Rhinos squad and coaching staff, who were all on hand to sign autographs, chat with the fans and have their photos taken.

The day included the opportunity to tour the tunnel and changing rooms, ask a question in a Q&A with head coach Brad Arthur and participate in training and exercise drills with the Rhinos' performance staff.  The young players were also offered deals from the club's retail partners Oxen who had an exclusive discount on their rugby boots.

Speaking about the event Rhinos Schools & Engagement Lead Ian Wilson said: "It was fantastic to see so many young people and families enjoying the day. Providing Community Club players with the opportunity to go behind the scenes and interact with the players will help to build even better connections between them and the club; and we look forward to seeing them and their families back at AMT Headingley Stadium in 2025."

The event was part of the club's and Leeds Rhinos Foundation's commitment to connect and strengthen relationships with community clubs in the city and beyond.  As well as the work Leeds Rhinos Foundation does through its Rugby League Development Plan to attract new players to clubs, improve standards through coaching workshops and development days, the Rhinos are also extending the opportunities for teams to play a role in match days with the chance to experience playing on the pitch at half time or welcome the Super League teams onto the field in the guard of honour or flag experiences.
