It’s a double for Smith in CitySprint Rhinos Index award

Back rower Cameron Smith has made it back to back wins for himself in the CitySpring Rhinos Index weekly prize after following up his impressive performance in the win over Toulouse with another top draw showing in our last outing against Hull KR.

Smith produced 21 carries in the win over the Robins at Headingley and made 156 metres. He also made three tackle breaks with one offload and 24 supports in the game gaining vital points in our CitySprint Rhinos Index for Round 11.

New for 2022, we have introduced a new weekly award for the Rhinos player to fight it out for with the introduction of the CitySprint Rhinos Index.

Smith played 62 minutes against Tony Smith’s side and completed an impressive 38 tackles with just three misses or offloads conceded in the tackle. In total he had 23 defensive efforts.

We have all heard those comments from players or coaches about their player who does the hard work that his team mates appreciate but no one else notices. Well now we are recognising those crucial parts of the team with a special Rhinos Index.

Each week, the club’s analysts team will input the vital numbers with a special scoring system in place to determine which play tops the CitySprint Rhinos Index for that Round of Super League.

Used to judge the hardest-working players in each match, the CitySprint Rhinos Index rewards the men who rack up the metres, make the tackles, support their team mates, create offloads and produce the tackle-breaks.

It’s not just all about the good stuff either, points are taken off for missed tackles or offloads conceded too.

The points are decided using the following system:

Carry = 1 point for each carry

Metres = 1 point per 10 metres made

Tackle break = 2 points per break

Offload = 2 points per offload

Supports = 0.5 point per support

Tackles = 2 points per tackle

Missed/offload conceded = -2 points for each one

Defensive effort = 0.5 points per effort
