On this Day – 11th December

ON THIS DAY in 1977 Leeds took on Dewsbury as they were looking to get over a poor start to the season.

In the game Leeds suffered their sixth defeat of the season away to Dewsbury. The Loiners had already played their Yorkshire rivals earlier in the season and on that occasion had won 40-11, but since then their League form had stumbled and in November they had lost all three of their games.

At the beginning of December though they looked as though they were about to turn things around again with over Wigan, but in this game they were unable to make it two wins in a row, despite tries from Steve Pitchford and David Smith. Willie Oulton landed three goals but it was not enough to secure the win, with Leeds going on to lose 18-12.

ON THIS DAY in 1990 former Leeds player Dom Crosby was born in Wigan.  Crosby joined Leeds in 2018 from Warrington towards the end of the season, originally on loan;/ and made seven appearances.

Injuries prevented him from playing for Leeds again and we forced to retire from playing in 2020, aged just 29.

He was a two time Grand Final winner with Wigan and appeared in four consecutive Grand Finals between 2013 and 2016, winning the first and last of them against Warrington.
