Leeds Rhinos prop Anthony Mullally has received a two game ban from the RFL Disciplinary tonight.

The Match Review Panel considered that Mullally had been guilty of four Grade A incidents in Friday’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Sixth Round at Widnes.

This season the Early Guilty Plea has been replaced by the Penalty Notice for cases graded A-C. In determining the appropriate sanctions to be issued in the Penalty Notice, the Match Review Panel will, after grading an incident, consult the player’s disciplinary record. If the player has no record showing two or more offences in last 24 months, including one in last 12 months; and no similar offence (as defined in the Sentencing Guidelines) at Grade C or above in last 24 months this equals a penalty at lower end of range (for example – No Further Action for Grade A).

Prior to Friday’s game, Anthony Mullally had never been charged with any offence previously in his career. However, the Review Panel have considered that the first two occasions in the 16th and 38th minute require no Match Penalty Notices but, because of the first two, the incidents in the 39th and 60th minutes have both been set at 1 Match Penalty Notice. Should the first two notices go unchallenged.

Mullally will miss Saturday’s Dacia Magic Weekend clash with Castleford Tigers as well as next week’s trip to Catalans Dragons.
